CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL!   RD 5 FINAL 2008 STATE ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIPS sponsored by Rilusi Motorcycles

SUNDAY  14TH SEPTEMBER  BARBAGALLO RACEWAY WANNEROO

Championship Titles in most classes will go down to the wire at the Final State Championship round.  Ben Stronach  (SMB Suzuki GSX-R 1000) has enough experience to maintain his position at the top of the point’s ladder in the  SteelBlue Superbike Championship but will still have to remain focused and on his game for the final three races.

Stronach is also looking to regain the local Lap record for Superbikes around Wanneroo.  Having set a new lap record earlier this year of 56.8140 sec, it was snatched away the following meeting by the reigning Superbike Champ Matt Battista who reset the record at 56.6900.
Stronach currently enjoys a 22 point buffer over second placed Chris Galbraith (Weld West Suzuki GSX-R 1000) and 33 points over Mark Schnierer (Rilusi Motorcycles Suzuki GSX-R 1000). Ben Henry  (Allect Services Yamaha R1) is quite capable of upsetting all of the above but is too far back in the points to take the title, as is the ever improving Kevin Boulton (Rick Gill Honda CBR 1000).

The BHS Engineering Supersport Championship is at this stage a done deal with Adam Senior (Rick Gill Honda CBR 600) who has an unassailable lead over nearest rival Josh Trigwell (Bunbury Motorcycles Yamaha R6) who has proved that he is capable of beating Senior (In round 4) but he hasn’t been able to pressure him consistently. Jason Cawthorne (Comleck Yamaha R6) has improved throughout the season and is one to watch in 2009. Strett Cull and Tom Hatton haven’t been able to mix it with Senior to any great extent in 2008, but both are experienced and capable riders so could mix up the minor placings at the final.
Senior takes with 2008 Supersport title with 295 points,  Trigwell sits on 202 pts, Cawthorne 163 and young Kalgoorlie rider Jarrod Hockley is only 2 points down on 161 with Cull at 157 and Hatton on 147 pts.

Andrew Skinner (Prestige Honda CBR 600), Chris Gilmore(SportsPower Kalgoorlie Yamaha R6) and early season leader Ray Anset (Eagle Screens Suzuki 600) are the only ones capable of winning the  West Coast Honda Superstock Series. Anset and Gilmore both had rounds to forget at the last meeting but can still mathematically win the series should Skinner falter.

Sidecar racing hasn’t been as strong for many years and some of the credit must go to the Championship sponsors of 2007 Rob Hair and 2008  Warren’s Ultra Fast Karts, and also the Walker Brothers, Darryn and Neal (RHR Suzuki 1000) who have made every finish  a winner in 2008, and they have a very good chance to go through the  State Championship season undefeated.
Father and son team of Lindsay Fagan and Anthony Fagan  (Armadale Rental Car LCR 1000).are the only two who have been able to get near the Walker Bros.  Trevor Clyma and Paul Brider  (Hartac Sales Kawasaki 1000) have added some excitement to the class in their first full season by running consistently well and now go into the final round in third place overall.

The Rilusi Motorcycles “B” Grade Series is down to a three horse race going into the final for 2008. Kevin Boulton,  Ben Henry and Shane Martin (Albany Audiocom Yamaha R1) are the only riders who can win the series and the money would have to be on the series leader Boulton.

The KTM Formula Two Series is safely in the hands of Ric Steele (Motomax TZ250) providing he makes it to the start line, because Jack Coyle (Muldrew Heavy Haulage Honda RS 125), Colin Rose (Sunset Motorcycle Suzuki SV650) and Matt Shaw (Barry Nash Honda RS 125) are all riding very well and he will need to be on top of his form to win the series.

C & D grade riders in the Two Wheel Wreckers Clubman 1000 and 600 respectively will be keen to show what they have achieved this year with many of them in the first season of racing.
Watch out for Luke Thyer, Jarrod Hockley and Sean Prouse in the Club 600’s  and Jarrod Church, Elizabeth Haren , Stuart Campbell or Craig Anderson in the Club 1000 Class.

Sunday’s racing gets underway with Practice from 9am and non stop racing from 11.30am
General Admission Adults is $20 (incl. programme)  Seniors $10 and Children 15 yrs and under FREE.
